Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) apply to CricSpeedo, the bowling speed app for Android (package com.cricspeedo.myapp), and to the website cricspeedo.com. “We” and “us” mean the developer of CricSpeedo. By downloading or using CricSpeedo you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. What CricSpeedo does

CricSpeedo estimates the speed of a cricket delivery from a short video. You record a clip of up to 6 seconds in the app or upload one from your phone, the clip is turned into frames on our servers, you mark the Release and Impact frames and set the pitch distance, and the app calculates the speed in km/h and mph. Your five most recent results are kept in Records on your phone. The app is free and supported by ads.

2. Speeds are estimates

Every result is an estimate, and its accuracy depends on how you use the app, including:

• your phone’s frame rate and slow-motion setting, and the quality of the video;
• where the camera is placed and whether the bowler, pitch and batter are all in view;
• how precisely you mark the Release and Impact frames, and any times you edit;
• whether the pitch distance is right: the presets are 66 ft for hard ball and 58 ft for tennis ball, and you should change the distance if your pitch is different.

CricSpeedo is not a radar gun or a certified measuring device. Results are for personal practice, training and fun, and must not be relied on for official records, competitions, team selection, betting or any decision where an exact measurement matters.

3. Stay safe while filming

Cricket balls are hard and travel fast. Always film from a safe position: never stand on the pitch, in the line of the ball or close to the batter while a ball is being bowled, and follow the rules of the ground or nets you are using. You are responsible for your own safety and for the safety of the people around you while you use CricSpeedo.

4. Videos you record or upload

• Only measure videos you recorded yourself or have the right to use. If other people can be seen or heard in a clip, make sure they are happy to be filmed, and for anyone under 18 get permission from a parent or guardian.
• You keep all rights in your videos. You give us a limited permission to upload, store, copy, compress and process each clip only to provide your speed measurement. That permission ends when the clip is deleted, which happens automatically as explained in our Privacy Policy.
• Do not upload anything unlawful, sexual, violent, hateful or harassing, anything that infringes someone else’s rights, or anything that is not a cricket delivery you want to measure.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• interfere with, overload or try to gain unauthorised access to the app, our servers or our cloud storage;
• send automated or bulk requests to our servers, or use them for anything other than measurements made in the app;
• copy, modify, decompile, reverse engineer or resell the app, except where the law expressly allows it;
• create fake ad views or clicks, for example by tapping ads on purpose or using tools to play rewarded ads.

We may block access to our servers for anyone who breaks these rules.

6. Ads and ad-free credits

CricSpeedo shows ads from Google AdMob, including a full-screen ad before a speed result. In the Ad-free credits section you can choose to watch an optional rewarded ad; watching it to the end earns one credit, and each credit skips the full-screen ad on one result. Credits have no monetary value, cannot be bought, sold or transferred, are stored only on your phone, and are lost if you clear the app’s storage or uninstall the app. You never need a credit to see your speed. We may change how ads and credits work at any time.

7. Google Play and other third parties

You download CricSpeedo from Google Play, and the app uses Google services for ads and in-app reviews. Your use of those services is also governed by Google’s terms and policies. We are not responsible for the content of ads or for websites and apps that ads link to.

8. Our rights in CricSpeedo

The CricSpeedo app, website, name, logo and design belong to us. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, in line with these Terms and Google Play’s terms. No other rights are granted.

9. Updates and availability

We may update, change, suspend or stop any part of CricSpeedo at any time, for example to fix problems, improve speed detection or respond to changes from our providers. Measuring a delivery needs an internet connection, and we do not guarantee that the service will always be available, uninterrupted or free of errors. Keep the app updated to get the latest fixes.

10. Disclaimer

To the extent permitted by law, CricSpeedo is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, reliability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

11. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any injury, damage or loss arising from filming deliveries, from relying on speed results, or from any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, including loss of data or opportunities. Our total liability for any claim relating to CricSpeedo is limited to the amount you paid us for the app, which is zero. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability or consumer rights that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you.

12. Ending your use

You can stop using CricSpeedo at any time by uninstalling the app. Sections 2, 4, 8, 10, 11 and 13 continue to apply after you stop.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the country where the developer of CricSpeedo is based. If you use CricSpeedo as a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time and will change the “Last updated” date above. If a change is significant, we will let you know in the app or on this website before it takes effect. If you keep using CricSpeedo after that, you accept the updated Terms.
